MWC: Unless...

Dear TL youth,

Don't remember when was the last time I watched a movie just for the fun of it, and not for the purpose of learning something for life and/or ministry.  Thought I'd do that just once to relax, and LORAX was what I saw.  Funny thing was: I still walked away with a timely message from God. Ha!  He ALWAYS speaks!!  If you want to hear Him, he's gonna talk to you anytime, all the time, everywhere--yup! even at the theatre :)

Lorax said: "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better.  It's not!"  God reminded me of you...and I am praying for more love and intentional care.

What about you?  What and/or who do you care about?  What have you done about that burden/passion that's on your heart?  Have you given everything and felt fruitless?  Well, remember: unless YOU continue to care, nothing will get better!  Don't rely on someone else, but be that someone!  Meanwhile, pray for wisdom and patience, we can never have too much of those!  I know I can't :)

It's TGIF!  I pray every week that you'll come, and that you'll be coming with a desire and passion for God, for His word, and for your fellow brothers and sisters, or at least, walk away with such desire.  May tonight and this weekend be the answered prayer for you.  And if you come, would you come with sincerity, not apathy?  'Cause it's gonna bring much blessing upon yourself and those around you!

Much love,
Vivian

MWC: Feel-O-Meter

Morning, TL Youth Families!

Have you heard of the "fuehlometer" (Feel-O-Meter)?  It's an interactive art installment (a giant 8-meters tall Smiley face) designed by three German artists and installed on top of a lighthouse in Lindau, Germany.  Data collected by a digital camera of facial expressions of the passersby was analyzed by a computer which then determines the expression of the sculpture, reflecting the mood of the city--happy, sad, or indifferent.

If the lens were to focus on your face, capturing data from the past week, month, or three months, what would YOUR SMILEY show?

To every feeling of the human heart, there's an answer in God's personal letter to you (His Word):
  • If you are feeling happy, He rejoices with you and says that there's joy in His presence forevermore.
  • If you are sad, He comforts you and says that His joy is your strength and that He will lift your heart in praise.
  • If you are lost, He says He'll direct your path, if you'll acknowledge Him in all things and lean not on your own understanding.
  • If you feel hopeless, He says that Christ in you (this Creator God living in your humble heart) is your hope of glory.
  • If you are weak, He says your strength will be renewed like an eagle....

Would you come to the Fountain of Every Blessing TODAY?  RIGHT NOW?  If God who did not spare his own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:32)

Join us this coming weekend!  You've gotten family here who loves ya!  Attached please find Bible study resources and questions for Daniel 9.

Love,
Vivian

MWC 3-7-2012

Hi ya'll!

I am writing to you with LOTS of excitement cuz God's really doing some awesome things in our church community, including a sincere and renewed bonding in our youth group. Looking at our past blessings and the exciting programs God's prepared for us this month and the next few months to come, I am just so overwhelmed with gratitude! Can't tell you all cuz it's gonna take up too much space :)

Here's the line up for March youth Sundays:
  • 3/11-->Pastor Peter Wang will be visiting with the youth. If you don't know who he is, just look for that new face with a ten-tons-better-than-Santa's smile and who's almost always accompanied by his equally radiant Mrs. next to him :)
  • 3/18-->Brother James will continue his "Be the Best" series. Yes, I'll try to warn him about some youth are actually suffering from Type 2 LINSANITY--from hearing too much about Jeremy Lin :)
  • 3/25-->UW AACF's famous TOM twin brothers, Nick and Chris, will be speaking to us. See if you can tell them apart. They are two young God and people loving college students and I believe you'll enjoy them a lot!
  • 3/30 (FRIDAY)-->Movie/Fun Nights at David and Autumn Liu's house. Big Screen/home theatre, popcorn, snacks, and maybe even 3D (well, maybe a bit too much!)

As for the rest of the Fridays, we'll finish studying the book of Daniel. It'll be quite an interest ride in the unfamiliar land of Prophecies as we learn from Daniel's dreams and visions.

Hope to see you all this weekend! Meanwhile, enjoy this rare triple S season: Shower, Snow, and Sun!

Love and blessings,
Vivian

Happy Thanksgiving!!

T'is the season to recount all our blessings throughout the year and beyond.  I am deeply thankful for all of you who have been a source of blessing and encouragement to my family and me.  Through you, I've come to experience, understand, and learn in greater measures what are sacrificial love, willing and rich giving, patience and kindness, faithfulness, and last but perhaps the greatest, humility.  I am grateful to be part of this church family.

May the Lord fill your holiday season with much joy and your coming year with unsurpassed blessings and visitation from God.

Much love,
Vivian

December Happenings

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!  The weather outside maybe chilling, but may your heart be warmed these days with many wonderful gatherings of families and friends, and be delighted and refreshed with awesome fellowships and food!

As year 2011 is drawing to an end, we really want to see you all in these following events.  Come and receive God's blessings and be a blessed encouragement to us all!

  • During the next three Sundays (11/27, 12/4, 12/11), we'll be finishing our final three messages in the Do Hard Things series  with 12/11 being the finale during which I'll be sharing about the HARDEST things that anybody has ever done!
  • Fridays:
    • 12/2--Brother Peter Wong will be our special guest speaker for this combined Friday worship, giving his testimony/message under the title: From Darkness into Light!  Brother Peter was a native of Hong Kong and lost his sight due to an illness during his teen years.  He struggled for meaning and significance in life until he found Jesus Christ as his personal savior.  With God given strength and courage in this new found abundant life in Christ, Peter completed advanced degree from Cambridge University and later joined Microsoft.  You'll be greatly encouraged by the message that Peter lives daily!
    • 12/9--Daniel 1-4 review: apart from being enlightened and exhorted by the lives of DanielHananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, you will be given a brief tour into the great ancient kingdom of Babylon and the life of King Nebuchadnezzar.  What was so special about these people that God  chose to reveal who He was and His enduring kingdom to the world through them?
    • 12/16--Movie night! Our last Friday fellowship of the year!
  • Saturdays:
    • 12/3--Youth parent fellowship and potluck and youth Christmas Celebration--all under one roof!!  Come for an awesome time of fellowship, fun, and food!
    • 12/10--Youth Quarterly Planning Breakfast: ALL willing and interested youth welcome!  We'll meet at 9am at Old Country Buffet in Factoria (Bellevue).  Let's give thanks and feedback for this past year, and jointly plan for a year of adventure for our youth for 2012! (Please bring $7 to cover your cost.  Thanks!)
See you ALL then!!!

Early Christmas Celebration for Youth on 12/3

(UPDATE) We have 11 youth members say they will join the Christmas Celebration/Party, so it is officially ON.  Yay!  Don't forget it is a potluck, so cook your favorite food :P
===========================================

Dear Youth Team,

Since we have a parents gathering on December 3rd in my house, do you guys (youth) want to have an early Christmas potluck in my house too?  I can make sure parents are meeting in the basement and you guys have the main floor with the Christmas tree set up.

If we have at least 5 people like on Facebook (from youth team), then we will have it.  Then, you guys can decide what activities you would like to do amongst yourself.

Blessings,
Yolanda
